Found new type of 22 ammo at WallyM
1 Attachment(s)
Found bulk packs of 22 at WallyW today in I don't know how long but they weren't the familiar 550 round packs. These are from Federal but only 325 rounds, and they are called AutoMatch. Apparently they are tuned to autoloaders and are meant to significantly more accurate in them than standard. Basically, it's a 40 gr solid at 1200 FPS, sounds standard to me. I googled the name and found a lot of people think they shoot REAL well. The cost was $15/325 after tax, not real cheap but not exactly Eley Match price either.
At least we're finding ammo to buy. |
Re: Found new type of 22 ammo at WallyM
I purchased a box at Wally too about 4 months ago or so. They shoot pretty good in my 1022 and Neos. Haven't shot too many though because of the shortage and fear of being left with "too few" 22lr.

Are they isolated in the box, or are they one big pile? The biggest gripe I have with .22 ammo is that the bullets are all banged up with irregular ogive surfaces. How can you be consistent if the bullets don't have a consistent shape?

Looks to me that all they did was shrink the size and keep the price the same all the while describing it as better ammo than the regular bulk pack.

<SLV>,
The rounds are bulk-packed, just like the 550-count boxes. I bought several boxes of the AutoMatch last summer at my local WM, they go bang reliably and seem to group decently. However, I didn't do any formal accuracy testing, so I personally can't say they're that much better then the 550's. |
